Three Step Approach:
Class/Group Begins with a Teacher/Leader
Step One: OBSERVATION
- Focus on building class/group relationships
- Discover through member involvement and S.H.A.P.E where class/group members fit in the various leadership roles of class/group
- Begin to look for the apprentice
Step Two: PREPARATION
- Name an apprentice for your class/group
- Inform class/group that the apprentice will be sharing in the leadership/teaching duties
- Apprentice begins involvement in the Leadership Development Pathway
- Provide opportunities for the apprentice to lead (when you are present – not when absent)
Use the 3 “S” Approach:
1. Sentence … crawl step
2. Section … walk step
3. Study … run step
Step Three: MULTIPLICATION
- Transfer leadership to the apprentice
- Provide helpful feedback
- Prepare the class/group for multiplication
